I really enjoyed this. (This was also my first historical romance). I really liked the writing and I enjoyed the characters, not just the main two, but also the side characters as well. I felt the chemistry between the leads and I enjoyed their banter. And the reason they couldn't be together was more from the outside forces and the expectations that had placed on them by society rather than say the 3rd act break-up that is common in romance novels, and their eventual unification felt earned in my opinion. I did also like the steamy scenes and they felt like they added to the story. This had been on my tbr for a while and I'm really happy I finally got to it because it made me want to read more historical romances. And I'm looking forward to continuing on with the series as well.
