Eh, it was cute enough and the characters were entertaining, but I guess it felt a tad anticlimactic? Hmm. May need a reread at some point.

oh man. oh MAN. this is everything I want in a book. science and magic together! shape shifting! fantasy setting! critique of corrupt power structures! queer rep! badass main character! tackling corrupt power structures! goofy humor! I LOVED this so much. definitely one of my new all time faves.

This was a delightful quick read/listen. The audiobook was really well done and highlighted the humor of the story. I'm definitely going to hunt down a copy of the physical book for a reread. Nimona is a chaotic character full of energy and mischief and I hope we get more of her energy one day!

The story starts with Nimona signing herself up to be a villian's sidekick but you'll have to decide if its Lord Ballister Blackheart or the  Institution who is the real villian.

There is something about this book that I adored. That something was everything. Nimona is unique, Ballister Blackheart is amazing, and Lord Goldenloin has his moments as well. I loved it all. READ THIS NOW. It is quick and fun and wonderful! :D

Reread this because I recently watched the Nimona movie and couldn’t quite remember how much they pulled from the book. One of the rare occasions where the text and movie complement eachother quite nicely, with each compensating for the flaws of the other.
