A short story packed with action!

When a family is brutally killed in the area, Molly's skills as an earth witch are required to find out if the killers were vampires, like the police believe.

Molly is reluctant to involve herself, worrying about her two babies at home, but she can't in good conscience sit back and do nothing, knowing that more families could die because of her inaction.

That's how she ends up walking the crime scene along with Jane and Brax, and discovers that
Spoilerthere were seven crazy vampires that were behind the deaths. Jane uses her own unique gifts to track them down and helps the police get a trap in place.

Unfortunately the vampires escape and claim more victims, including Molly's sister Carmen's husband, and kidnap Carmen.

Jane decides that she has to deal with the vampires herself, and along with Molly, Evan and Brax, and a score of knives, charms and weapons, they enter the vampire lair.

They manage to rescue Carmen and get rid of the vampires, but Brax loses his life in the process
.

Very engaging story despite its short length. According to the author's recommended reading order, [b:Skinwalker|5585788|Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, #1)|Faith Hunter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1400516601l/5585788._SY75_.jpg|5757031] comes next, but I'll probably continue with the short story "Make it Snappy", found in the anthology [b:Urban Enemies|32859670|Urban Enemies|Joseph Nassise|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1481057537l/32859670._SY75_.jpg|55477735], that takes place after [b:WeSa and the Lumber King|20744770|WeSa and the Lumber King (Jane Yellowrock, #0.1)|Faith Hunter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1391738274l/20744770._SX50_.jpg|40075752].

Molly and Jane go vampire hunting for the first time together. It's a mess. Again this story is all about relationship building. This is another story that has been hinted at so many times that it was great to finally get the whole story.
