Rescuing Casey harkened back to why I fell in love with Susan Stoker's books. There is danger and mystery along with the deep emotions. Those who aren't fans of insta-love will find this book trying though. Beatle loves Casey after just seeing a picture of her. Personally, I enjoy the insta-love. I like stories where the conflict is external and not between the couple. Many NA books are angsty because the conflict is internal and those stories get emotionally draining. Maybe because I am getting old? Who knows; regardless, I love books like Rescuing Casey where the conflict is external.
Casey is a professor of entomology at The University of Florida. She takes 3 students to Costa Rica for research and they are kidnapped. One of the students is the daughter of an ambassador and when she doesn't call her father, he sounds the alarm. Casey's brother is Blade, one of the men on the Delta Force team. Once he is made aware that his sister is missing, he and his team report to Costa Rica to save her!
The kidnapping and rescue were harrowing enough, but Casey then has to traipse through the jungle, injured, avoid dangerous jungle insects, and escape a second kidnapping attempt. Things don't get easier once they leave Costa Rica either! And throughout the danger and mystery of who kidnapped Casey, you get this building relationship between Beatle and Casey. Plus, you get more of the other Delta Force guys and their wives/girlfriends and more Annie! Rescuing Casey provides a dramatic rescue, a hidden threat, and a love story that is scorching!

As someone with a 23+ year career in research - most of which is considered human research - I find the basis of the kidnapping plot entirely implausible. No way would anyone involved in the sciences over the last 20-30 years ever think they could propose the kind of study the professor is supposed to have proposed and think there’s a chance in hell it would be accepted.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Casey Shea has taken some of her students on a research trip. Troy “Beatle” Lennon is on a mission where his best needs to be good enough. I have two words for you, “grown men”. Casey had me laughing and shaking my head. Sh…don’t tell anyone but I would feel the same. Because of Casey’s profession this author must have a love or has done a fair amount of research. I’ve always heard that a good comedian has perfect timing.
Our author has perfect timing. She knows exactly when to have us on the edge of our seats and she knows exactly the right time to get us to laugh. She may write about a serious subject but even the characters need a chance to laugh in order to let go of some of the tension that may be building. What’s also nice is that she interweaves updates on some of her characters – they are a team after all.
One character I loved getting reacquainted with is Annie. If you didn’t read her story, oh excuse me, her mom’s story you’ll soon realize what a gem and scene-stealer she still is. She doesn’t say an awful lot but she’s a whirlwind that you need to acquaint yourself with. This is a group that cares deeply about every member and that includes extended family. As Casey and Beatle’s story starts to wind down, the author seems to have the time to interweave in one more story. Her ending made me very happy because she gives us a very pleasant surprise.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

This is book 7 in the Delta Force Heroes series and it features Troy “Beatle” Lennon and Casey Shea. I want to start with how much I LOVE Beatle! Not because of his gorgeous face or killer body but because of the way he treats and talks to Casey. What an AMAZING job this author does with her characters! I love it when the female main character is strong but shows vulnerability at the same time.
BRAVO! Another awesome 5-Star read. I can’t seem to get enough of these amazing military men and the women who make their inner cavemen want to come out and play.
