I really enjoyed this one, for the simple fact that Miss Marple is the main character in her own story. I vaguely recalled this plot from one of the television adaptations I had watched but was not able to recall the whodunit or why. Let me tell you, the reveal was a good one and reminded me of why I love Agatha Christie so much. I especially enjoyed the humorous interactions between Miss Marple and Miss Knight. Jane Marple does not do micromanagement well!

I originally rated this 5 stars and I think I mustve read this before I read much else from Christie - upon reread it's silly and coincidental in some parts and while I liked the ending I think the construction of the book on a whole is... it's almost like someone doing a really good ghost write of Christie but throwing in a little too much unsubtle fanservice

Not one of my personal favourites, but honestly Christie rarely puts a foot wrong in my experience. This is just one of those instances where I enjoyed the presence of Miss Marple but I felt she was almost living in a second story with some enforced but highly enjoyable overlap with the mystery.

Not enough Marple and it was too obvious who the culprit was.
A very entertaining Miss Marple's story, with a bit of melancholy for the times that have passed.
