A tear jerker and a great story!

I loved the skillful way the author wrote from the dog's POV. It's the best book I've read in a long while.

I give it a 2 for me, but probably a 4 for the general public. First off Enzo was a little too zen for me. Enzo's doggy ruminations on his lifelong preparation for reincarnation as a man are boring and contrite. In general the book tries too hard to be philosophical while the characters are super flat - um, the EVIL TWINS? The generous benfactor who magically appears at the end to solve all Denny's problems? The precocious wonderful daughter who turns out to be a genius just like dad? In spite of it's flaws though I enjoyed reading it for the most part. It's very low impact, I liked the stuff about the "zebra" being everywhere and the racing metaphors. Growing up in Daytona I can appreciate that kind of thing.

This feels like false rape accusation propaganda, also don’t love that they sexualized and villainized a child. I get that false accusations happens, but I feel like there could’ve been a different situation used for the same / similar effect that doesn’t inflate the idea that this is a possibility for people when it only makes up 2-8% of all accusations. It is much more common to have the accusation be truthful, or even to have an assault go unreported.
Full set of breasts for milking and hips wide enough for childbirth
do we need to describe A CHILD like that?!

I loved this book. Seeing things from the perspective of a dog was very interesting. It had some sad moments, and a lot of references to car racing, which I'm not in to, but was very sweet. I'll never look at dogs the same way now.
