okei nyt on mennyt yli kuukausi ?? siitä kun luin tän ja vau, joka päivä mä vaan ajattelen tätä. meinasin oksentaa kun luin tätä tho. aika usein tuli huono olo. päähenkilö on mä (välillä) ”i spent almost all day reading in my room. i never went anywhere.” pliis mä vaan haluan tietää mitä kirjoja se luki jotta mäkin voin lukee ne. ne kirjeet,,,,, kojiman ääni joka on kuin 6B lyijykynä??? se loppu,,,, kun mä sain luettua tän mä vaan tuijotin kattoon ja mun silmät ei liikkunut. momose suututti mua NIIN paljon siinä yhdessä kohtaa oon hater. oikeesti mä en kestä tää oli niin liikuttava ja eyes ansaitsee niin paljon parempaa. itkin… ”i never had another friend like her. she was the only one.” ”i read your letters, like over and over. they always made me feel better. even though we didn’t meet or talk or whatever, i feel like i always knew how you were feeling.”
niiiiin kivuliasta ”i instinctively avoided mirrors in the bathroom and at home.. pretty soon i got used to living without mirrors.”  “it matters that all the pain and all the sadness have meaning.” “because we’re always in pain we know exactly what it means to hurt somebody else.” “i guess i was crying because we had nowhere else to go, no choice but to keep living in in this world. crying because we had no other world to choose.”

I love Kawakami's writing so much, her prose is so poetic and mundane at the same time. She is so good at capturing the human experience in all of it's boring inconsequential moments, and yet also in huge philosophical ideas I never even pondered before.

I'm also very happy with how it ended. It ended in a similar way to Breasts and Eggs, in that the narrator finds happiness and carries on regardless of what they are told and large philosophies and theories about themselves. They just live their life anyway.

I also enjoyed the ambiguity of Kojima and her relationship with the narrator. Imo she sort of fetishized his pain and used it to justify her own in a way.
