Fake dating will always be my favorite trope!

This is the 3rd book in the Holidays With The Wongs series. Zach and Jo have been friends for years, meanwhile one of them has been in love with the other. To avoid family meddling they both agree to stage a fake relationship to get through the holiday but realize it might not be as fake as they thought.

I absolutely loved this book, a quick, fun read I  finished in one afternoon.
For me it’s the perfect sexy romcom. Romance with a little drama to tug at your heartstrings, lots of laughs and of course the spice! The more I read of this series the harder it is for me to decide which book is my favorite.

A cute, sweet fake dating story for Chinese New Year. The characters fell pretty flat, but it was a fun book to get in the holiday spirit.

A Fake Girlfriend for Chinese New Year was an ok read. It was a friends to lovers romance between Zach Wong, a high school teacher, and Jo MacGregor, the town’s dentist. They became friends after both ending long-term relationships that left them hurt and unsure of their futures.

As is the theme of the serious, Zach’s family is quite the meddling bunch and the holidays is a time where his parents and grandparents attempt to play matchmaker. Zach just can’t go through another matchmaking disaster, so of course, he elicits Jo’s help in creating a fake relationship to get his family off his back.

This was low angst, like all the other books, but didn’t quite carry the same charm for me. It felt like I was told more than actually shown that Zach and Jo were into each other as more than just friends. I also found their intimate scenes a bit awkward, but not enough to completely pull me out of the story.

However, there were some comedic elements that moved the story along that I did enjoy, namely the Pictionary scene. (But I can see this scene being a hit or miss for readers).
