Better than the original, though the pace is a bit slow at first and the ending experiences some interesting and different pacing.
4 / 5 stars.
Review to come.
Dang, I'm getting behind.

Some parts of the book were pretty fast-moving. Unfortunately the battle scene that you spend so much building up to moves so fast that you almost miss some of the best parts. There is some good character development of the people introduced in the first novel, but I feel like some of the main characters get neglected in favor of developing side characters or progressing side plots.
That said, it's a really good read. There's a smattering of all kind of mythologies in here, and the more you know about mythology and folklore the more fun you'll have finding it. The dialogue is quick and snappy, and there are some pretty good one-liners. When you do get to the battle scene, slow down and savor it because there is some pretty neat "theatrical" stuff happening there.
It seems that a third installment is planned. I'm looking forward to it.

Six-Gun Tarot was a good book, but this sequel far surpasses it. Shotgun Arcana really delves into Golgotha and its inhabitants, as well as the greater world. Characters that were glossed over in passing are much more fully explored. The plot was action packed, but not overloaded, with plenty of foreshadowing for later books. All in all, the first book whet my appetite, but the second made me fall in love with the series.

Pure action/horror fun. This takes everything from Six-Gun Tarot and turns it up to eleven. If you don't like it, you'll call it over the top. If, like me, it's exactly what you're looking for, you'll call it delightfully bonkers.

This series just keeps getting better. I read this book amazingly fast, but the audio book from Graphic Audio makes it, if possible, even better. We return to Golgotha with all its unusual happenings a year after the events in “Six-Gun Tarot”. We get to know the residents better as R.S. Belcher introduces new characters & villains as a group of 30 serial killers make their way towards Golgotha in an effort to get an artefact that will take over the planet. The leader of this group is a former associate of Bick & will bring a world of trouble for the towns champions.

I always enjoy Belcher’s books. They’re very grim, but also full of hope with people fighting back against the grim.

To me this read as a horror book far more than a weird western. I enjoyed the western elements at least.
