heroes is… awesome. im a big time mythos fan (have read it like 6 times now) and i was a little hesitant to pick up this one because i was afraid i wouldnt love it as much. i was wrong lol. HE INCLUDED DIALOGUE AND ITS LITERALLY SO FUN. god i envy stephen’s whole vocabulary and syntax i want to speak like this i want to think the way he does. also i love how he’s devoted himself to most accurately as possible explain all of the heroes’ journeys. literally watched the hercules film the other day and cried at the inconsistencies. stephen fry’s great mythology is my personal religion. i literally love how he goes about explaining the myths and how in depth he goes and he doesnt. skip over. the bad things. he just says ‘this is gonna get sucky but we’ll get through it’ (not his exact words but who cares the message is clear) tl;dr: heroes was awesome i loved it cant wait to read troy and odyssey next

I’ve always enjoyed Greek mythology - stories filled with drama, mostly with Zeus being Zeus, and the results of said drama always seem to have a disastrous result for the mortals involved.  This retelling of the stories of some of the heroes of the Greek world by Stephen Fry was an entertaining read, and I loved his dry humour being injected into these stories - for example, Heracles (Hercules) is noted to not be the brightest pixel on the screen.

If you are interested in Greek mythology, I recommend this series as an easy & accessible way to learn about these stories.  I’m looking forward to the next two in this series, Troy & Odyssey, to see how much I can remember from high school & reading The Illiad & The Odyssey.
