This feels like your cheeky uncle Stephen telling you Greek Myths he learned from his time at Cambridge, told with a smirk and sometimes relishing the salacious and gruesome qualities to the story (though there is more gore than sex)—and not without the odd curse here and there (ages: high school +). Is it odd to hear Cretans with Scottish accents, why, yes, yes it is. Cockney accents=equally strange. Does it get a little muddled at times—absolutely, but that is Greek mythology for you. Overall it's an entertaining refresher on many of the heroes we hear reference to. I especially appreciated hearing the story of Jason and the Argonauts as I was least familiar with that story. I started Ovid once and look forward to picking it up again and I feel like Fry's retellings are very accessible. Just don't expect to remember *everything* afterwards.
This took me so long because I don't listen to audiobooks very regularly. I still prefer Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology to this one, but they are both great if you want a refresher / high level introduction to some classic myths.

Just as fun as the first book. As usual it's quite brutal and irreverent and there is quite a lot of rape. It was a good refresher on Greek mythology and in parts quite funny.

i had no idea about atalanta being a female hero, she was never mentioned in the percy jackson books and it was an extremely amazing retelling, it's a shame there wasn't any more stories of female heroes in the book
heracle's journey was also a wonderful read i had no idea that he accomplished so much and impacted greek lore like no other
and perseus had to be my favourite hero he literally was so fun to read about
i liked the author's unbiased narration, where he mentioned that not all the heroes were necessarily heroes and were still flawed and were terrible people at times
jason and the argonauts was also a wonderful read since i only knew the gist and not the details of the journey it was extremely enjoyable
