Firstly, The Eye of the World hooked me into this series/world and after I finished that I immediately started this book. The middle section where Selene is first introduced dragged a bit (in my opinion), however after that section wrapped up the writing took a much faster pace. I finished the last section of the book within about 2 days, I just devoured the ending. Very good book, made a lot of headway into developing Egwene and Nynaeve as characters. Highly recommend this series so far.
Did I enjoy this as much as book 1? Not really. It felt quite dense and didn't engage me as much as the first. It felt like there were large sections of walking/traveling where not much happened. I don't know. I want to read the whole series, but it had better pick back up.

The book centers around the search for the Horn of Valere, a legendary item with the power to summon the spirits of the dead, destined to be blown at the last battle. You get the idea.
It's not really spoiling much to say the boys. What floored me was (seriously, major end of book spoilers here)
The slightly rambling sequel helps build out the world, introducing the dangerous Seanchan and the Black Ajah, Aes Sedai who serve the Dark One. I also enjoyed the foreshadowing behind two major reveals. The series is epic fantasy and Jordan embraces that by shoehorning in during a final conflict in the book. It didn't feel necessary but I know Jordan tries to mimic some mythic story beats, so it is what it is.
All in all, good not great. 3/5.

Took FOREVER thanks to a bunch of stuff in my personal life, but WOW this was great. The world is better, the characters are better, everything with a few exceptions is just brilliant.

Despues de la mala experiencia del primer libro de la serie (mala copia de Tolkien) no tenía intención de seguir pero la muerte de mi coche y mi afición subsiguente a los audiolibros para amenizar los trayectos le dieron a la serie su segunda oportinidad. Y no me arrepiento por que se trata de un libro entretenido, que sin ser extraordinario mantiene el interés y desarrolla la épica narración por caminos distintos a los trillados por Tolkien.
Kolo času se v mém případě opět pootočilo a musím říct, že nebylo špatné být zase poblíž ta'veren.
Perspektivou oka devadesátkových fantasy, drobné vady opět odpuštěny. Největší obavy byly z přibývajícího množství postav, ale Jordan - až na jednu výjimku (Seléné, která mi přišla prostě protivná) - dokázal všechny postavy do příběhu umně zapracovat.
Zvědavý jsem na případný vývoj konceptu světa snů (prchavé reality, který slouží převážně k získávání informací, či předvídání možného vývoje událostí), který se v tomto díle objevil.
Takže je na co se těšit a brzy s dalším dílem kolo času opět roztočit.
