This was fun-ish and cute but not what I was expecting.

I really solid story. Loved the queerness was just apart of the book but not the main focus that was really nice. Very solid mystery to me the big twist was a little underwhelming. The person who ended up being behind all the paranomal shit had a motive but to me it wasn't good enough and their character didn't have enough of a reason outside of a little resentment that we see flare up in a later chapter but there wasn't enough of it for me to think he'd do something so drastic especially to someone he supposedly cares about. Really quick and decent read though i liked it.

woo hooooooooo i read a book!!

the plot weaving herman does in this book is absolutely spectacular. she plants seeds for upcoming plot points & the resolution so early in the story they're hard to spot, but once those seeds burst i'm like HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNOW THAT!!!!!!!!! i love foreshadowing so much <3

the worldbuilding of this book was lit too. herman clearly knows her medium stuff. it did get confusing at times tho. there's so many moving parts. still enjoyable to read tho.

the romance was sweet. i like how it was a small thing yet still was important to mina & evelyn. it didn't distract from the plot which was nice.

small thing but why did herman feel the need to point out a character's race when they're first introduced. like everytime someone is introduced herman goes "she was a WHITE GIRL" or whatever like idc bro. it's kinda weird that you're so insistent on that. i get it for mina bc she's an ~italian~ & her mom is a ~caterer~ but other than that???? i really dont give a shit LOL.

i would recommend this book for ppl who liked the netflix movie "there's someone inside your house." same vibes.
