So I've been in a little reading slump lately. Nothing really stirred my pot, ya know? Recently no book gave me that 'I have to read this book even though my eyes are burning and I have to go to work tomorrow but I can't put this book down' feeling.

So I decided to take it back to the basics. I went back to the genre that made me fall in love with reading - Contemporary African American Fiction.

Diva's Inc. has been on my 'to-read' shelf for quite a while and it was exactly what I needed to get me out of my slump. Maggie is the perfect damsel in distress and the novel offers up the perfect amount of romance and nonsensical comedy. While the plot is a little obvious, the richly drawn characters make up for it.

I enjoyed the story and I am so glad I don't have stuck up friends like Tiffany and Chanelle. Those two are users and are a hot mess.
