Very interesting book and start of an intriguing new series. Main character is interesting and while there may not be some big galaxy spanning plot the novel didn't suffer from that lack and I got a feeling it serves as an introduction to the world and the characters.

Quarter Share is an excellent 'slice of life' bit of science fiction set in a second 'age of sail' galaxy.

It's a character driven work that follows a young man who suddenly finds himself without any prospects on his home world, so he's gotta look elsewhere.

Quite enjoyable.

I liked this podcast book quite a lot--it would be four stars except for the fact that I found it slowed down a bit too much toward the end. However, I will be listening to the next book in the series. The main character is engaging and the world the author has envisioned is interesting. The story was somewhat lacking in a major conflict, although it is mainly about how the MC adjusts to a huge change in his life and begins to make his way in the world...but for quite a while I was sort of waiting to find out what BIG thing was going to happen, until I realized that there wasn't going to be one. The book is well-written, though, and the characters engaging enough for me to give the second book a try. The narration is very well done and the narrator's voice pleasant and perfect for the character.

Two stars feels so small, but apparently stands for 'it was okay', and it was okay. The writing is good, so good in fact that it took me over half the book to notice there isn't much of an actual story. More of a 'day in the life of'. Not too satisfying a read that way in my tastes though.

Excellent! I've always been interested in the day to day goings on of space ships and this has it. There is no adventure, no space ship battles, no weird aliens, just life aboard a trading vessel. Can't wait to read the next!

Fun, light read.

I didn't expect very much from a free Kindle unlimited book, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very likable characters and an interesting story. Now I'm on to the next in the series.

A refreshingly upbeat book (aside from the opening premise that gets things rolling). Far too much modern genre fiction is obsessed with "grimdark" settings and situations, and it's nice to see something that isn't dark and dreary.

It's also refreshingly short. The author tells an entertaining tale in around 250 pages and I appreciate that after reading far too many overwritten "epics" that could have been gotten across the story in much less space.

I will most likely continue reading this series in the future.
