Haha, I guess my rating got down because of so many difficult words. The ending was pretty neat though and this story has a pretty clear purpose.

All too often humans are the main protagonists in SF. In this satirical piece, Tenn puts forward Earth as a battlefield where two highly developed space faring civilizations engage in their fight. So Earth is liberated, then liberated a second time, followed by a re-liberation, etc. In all of that, the Earth is destroyed and humanity faces extinction, all as collateral damage. Like all good satire, it forces you to consider the nature of propaganda and the stories you tell yourself about war and liberation. A little long for the subject—some judicious editing would have improved the punch of this story, but worthwhile if you like satire.
