The plot was alllll over the place. There were so many details about Kari’s taste in music but barely any about her own life? I couldn’t force myself to finish and I recommend you don’t start.

This was a fantasy thriller. I loved the blend of indigenous history with thriller. It kept me on my toes and was intriguing. Took me awhile to get through it, but I enjoyed the story.

I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was drawn into this narrative. The author doesn't waste time with exposition or long descriptions. Instead, you are thrown into Kari's life and quickly get to know all the key players in it. Kari was a really great MC to follow with her snarky attitude and I really enjoyed seeing her development as she discovers new things about herself and her family. Although there is a supernatural element to this, I think it also said a lot of great things about dealing with trauma and identity and clichés and prejudices against Native Americans. This was a quick read that packed a punch. Highly recommended!
