Less horror, more supernatural family drama. I enjoyed the protagonist - a gritty and messy individual with a soft heart for those she loves. And the story wasn’t bad, I just felt a bit bored while reading - probably cause I was expecting something a bit more scary and less domestic.
Moderate: Pedophilia, Rape, Suicide, Drug abuse, Drug use, Murder, Suicide attempt, Violence, Cursing, Death, Grief, Alcohol, Gun violence, Suicidal thoughts, Alcoholism, Body horror, and Domestic abuse

i enjoyed this book but around halfway through it gets a little bit slow. it picks back up again during the last quarter and definitely makes the slow pacing worth it. i did find some of it repetitive (like, i understand. kari likes heavy metal and stephen king. i get it. pls.) but it didn’t bother me too much.
in terms of plot, i really did enjoy this. this was a great horror story and i’m not super familiar with native american stories so this was really interesting to read!
