I don’t like this book. That’s isn’t because it’s bad, it just didn’t work for me. I really wanted to like it, but I just couldn’t get invested. It’s a 2.5 star read.

I have watched a lot of Dark Fantasy Movies but never read a book of the same kind so I didn't know what to expect. Will it give me the same whoa feeling? Will it make me anxious about the ending? Or will I leave the book half read?
To sum the whole experience, it was beautifully written. Halfway through the book when my heart started beating fast when the plot thickened I knew it'll be that one book I will be fangirling about for a long time.
I'll be honest, personally I didn't like the main character Alice Prosprine. She acted like an ass many times but I guess that's all personal thoughts on it & it was required for the story. Like c'mon not everyone likes Snape either. I loved Ellery Finch tho. The ending scene of Finch made me very upset tho. But I lovvved how it wasn't the cliche 'Boy leaves it all for a girl' kind of emding. That also reminds me of the Harry Potter references in the story which made me high five the author in my head saying "ayyyeee i see you" If there is a sequel to the book I definitely cant wait to read.

there were elements that i enjoyed more than others, very creative and not predictable, but some of it got kind of convoluted/hard to follow
slow-paced
Got about 3/4ers through when I finally gave up. So not for me.
