Girl at Heart was a cute book to dive into while dealing with a migraine. There was just something about getting to know Charlie and the guys that was just easy to follow and like. Yeah, some things were predictable and the drama was kind of eye-roll worthy. Yet, it was easy to devour and just kind of go with the flow of everything.

I will say that Charlie's relationship with her dad was just so freaking cute. I loved them together. Even if she came home to an empty house some times. Then there's the whole fact that she slowly got herself some girlfriends which was just cute. It was a good thing for her to ease into these new things because she was learning more about herself. She wanted to be happy and be able to show everyone that she was a girl. No longer the tomboy everyone is used to. She is just a girl and wants everyone to accept it.

Especially her teammates on the baseball team.

Other than that, the romance between her and Jace was okay. It wasn't particularly a favorite but I did like how he was so shocked on how her guy friends treated her in certain situations. It definitely helps that he has younger sisters and treated Charlie like a girl. While her friends treated her like a guy.

Just saying, it was interesting and I think it made everyone a better person in the end. Well, not Shelly. She was just a self-centered bitch.

for a book with this premise, it was actually pretty good. yes, there were definitely laughable parts in the first half but it got better. no misogyny! which i expected so that was a nice surprise. ended up being a pretty good book w a good message. does make me want to go read "the game can't love you back" bc in terms of baseball books, it is the best one ever
