Look this book was just fucking terrible but like so entertaining. I'm amazed. Multiple people thought that publishing this was a good idea.

Yall I cant even begin to explain this book. Anyways as I have a psych background literally all I can think about is what fucking MI does this girl Actually have. Like the author says bipolar disorder but I feel like she got it mixed up with BPD but like the most stereotypical non functioning type of BPD that exists.

People dont act like this in real life!!! Actions have consequences!!! Frex she literally starts out by trying to kill her aunt and her mom has like no problem with that? No one calls the cops? you wear clothes you designed to be frustrating for boys to take off but JEANS are too complicated???? Bitch whAt

Like this book is just so ridiculous I cant get over it. I love it. This book is so bad probably it deserves one or two stars. I lowkey wanna give it four purely for entertainment value. I compromised with my better judgement at three.

What still sticks with me a month after reading:

1. Suicide doors

2. Repeated burnings and subsequent slatherings with popcorn-coloured lotion after wishing on the Key

3. Swan

4. Rosalie’s reputation

5. A wingéd person being pulled down to earth by the foot and dismembered

There were some things I really liked about this book, and Hanna was certainly a fascinating narrator. But there were also things that bothered me–the romance really didn’t work for me, for instance. And I’m afraid that in the end the things that bothered me outweighed the things that didn’t. As with Invisible Things, this book has gotten lots of good reviews from others, so do keep that in mind if you were planning to read it.

I'm not really sure how to evaluate this. I think there were several elements that another reader might enjoy a lot where it was meh to me.

This book has a very unique protagonist who gets tossed into a very unusual town and kind of thrives there, which was honestly refreshing and probably the biggest strength.

Reeves created a story that I was actually surprised to see is a standalone. Not because the plot is unfinished, but because these characters in this place seen to have more living to do.

If you're looking for a small town with strange happenings and a biracial, sexually active girl with ... I think it's bipolar II? I will check when I'm home, this might be the book for you.

I didn't finish this. I loved the setup, but I didn't like the R-rated language and sexual content.

Pretty sure that was the weirdest thing I've ever read.
