Florence has a blunt, no-bullshit voice that makes her book feel like a loving and very honest heart-to-heart with your cool, confident older sister. Definitely want to buy the physical copy so I can go back and underline passages and stare at them some more to really absorb what she has to say.

It was truly eye-opening and brought me back to some realities that definitely needed more attention and perspective. I really recommend this for everyone to read at least once <3

I genuinely really enjoyed the first half of the book! I felt well informed and Given was empowering with her talk on reclaiming time for loving yourself. I particularly loved the switching from a male gaze to queer and feminine gaze. However these parts I did enjoy I wish Given went deeper. She explained how at first her perspective had to change when she took charge of being a queer woman. But other than this there was nothing substantial to add. As for the rest of the book, I found myself growing angry. Her writing become repetitive, often repeating the same phrases every chapter and the teachings became quite obvious to a 21 yr old female with a twitter account. Although the book is marketed to my age demographic, I would have felt like it was needed for a younger audience. I wish I would have read this ten years ago! But towards the end I felt as if I was already well informed on issues being introduced and didn't need a shallow description of feminist terms. Also, and Given does acknowledge that she has only been in one long term relationship with a male identifying individual, but I wish there was more on queer relationships other than 1. you will need to find safe queer spaces to date in and 2. sometimes you won't even know if it's a date or a friendly drink!! I would have loved a description of what it means to be a single, queer identifying woman. How empowering is that!

It reads  like a really long Instagram post.
Is that a good or a bad thing? Depends what you are looking for. I was looking for something more serious, an essay about the struggles women face in today's society, more data based, less "I am the shit" monologue-like.
I would guess my growing up was very different from Florence Given's, so most of the things were not relatable to me, and VERY few were new. But this book is probably useful to teenagers.
