This book just didn’t do it for me. I wouldn’t call it a thriller. It reminded me of the movie Get Out with the plot focused on gentrification. The build up was sooooo slow. While I loved the historic details about Brooklyn and the shady realness on gentrification, it shouldn’t take 3/4 in to get to the “thriller” climax and speed through the ending in a few chapters. If it didn’t have the historical context, it’d be a 1 star.
