If you want a novel about murderous goings on at a New Hampshire boarding school, this is the one for you! I've never been to a boarding school and i would never want to having read this. Are they really like this? Are girls really like this?
It is always the quiet ones you have to watch though. That's often true.
No locations as such so not a BookTrail book.
Themes of sexual abuse of various kinds though so it's not a comfortable read.

This is suspenseful. Who is the quiet one? What happened? Who did it?
I enjoyed this book and I like the books I have read by this author. The end of the book was really hard to put down!
The one and only reason I give this as many as three stars is that up until they leave the dining hall (not really a spoiler,) it's be pretty well-written with lots of "seeds of doubt" regarding "whodunnit." After that it (imho) becomes drawn out and sappy. (Once AGAIN! - where are these author's editors!?)
Aaaand... I could not get past the missed details in a mystery.
P.S. Never thought I would say this... awesome epilogue!

Thoroughly enjoyed this UNTIL the epilogue. Disappointed by that.
I received an ARC of this title from the publisher for an honest review.
I'm not going to review this book because I didn't get very far. The story seemed interesting, but the writing felt very juvenile. DNF.

Rose and Bel, recently orphaned twins, enroll in a prestigious boarding school. The twins are almost immediately at each other’s throats, which seems odd after losing their parents. One twin gets sucked into the bad crowd.
The characters are poorly developed with the exception of Mrs. Donovan. The novel wasn’t suspenseful. Kind of eh all around.

This book from the beginning was very gripping. I found it really easy to get into and I really didn't want to put down. Unfortunately I have a day job that requires me to go to it and a boyfriend that also requires attention. But I cannot wait to get further into this book. Honestly this book is one of the best books I have read so far this year. I absolutely couldn't put it down. The end was great. The killer was kind of easy for me to tell. But sometimes that is the easy part. There were bits where I didn't think the cops were going to do their job. I think one of my favorite parts is the fact that I got so into it at the end that I forgot about the anonymous emails. Then boom the very last thing that happens the best thing. You find out who sent it. It is absolutely beautiful. I was just left there like... I thought.. but... How... It was fantastic. I loved this book. The characters were great. I absolutely recommend reading this book.
Thank you @stmartinspress for gifting a finished copy of SHE WAS THE QUIET ONE in exchange for my honest review.
I read Campbell’s debut novel, IT’S ALWAYS THE HUSBAND back in June with my sisters and we thought it was a fun summer read. The story was filled with twists and turns until the very last page and the characterization was 👌🏻. Having read and enjoyed that I was excited to get my hands on her latest book.
Unfortunately this one missed the mark for me. While it’s a quick read, I found the twists predictable and the characters lacking depth. I was left simply wanting more.
I will say that Campbell does a great job at keeping the reader guessing. The story is layered with possible outcomes. I know plenty of people who enjoyed this one so you may want to give it a try. This book is out 7/31.
2 1/2 stars rounded up for Goodreads.
