I’m a sucker for a good boarding school story and boy did this tick all the boxes. Super creepy, and even though the mysteries are not very mysterious, part of the journey is finding out how the hell it gets to that point. A really juicy, engrossing read.

It was heading toward a 4 star but the third act was kind of anticlimactic and a tad drawn out/meandering.

What a ride of a novel. Without giving much away I can say I was enthralled, disgusted, riveted, proud, furious, etc... That ending! Unexpected and gives the title a whole new meaning than the one you get through the rest of the book (probably doesn't make sense)
I can't wait to read another of her books!

I really enjoyed this book! Although I wasn't really shocked at the ending, I just loved the writing style of this book, how easy it was to get into - I felt like I really knew the characters. This book reminded me of 13 reasons why, Pretty Little Liars and Gossip Girl, all in one book. It was a drama-sister-school type of book dealing with a student /teacher affair. I mean, juicy right?!

An enthralling read.

Fast paced. And split between chapters and police interviews. I loved the variation.

I enjoyed the twins as characters in there own right and loved the fact she got the teenage mindset so well written.

I didn’t believe in the wife character. It portrayed her as quite weak and easy to manipulate even before she was ill. I’m not sure that was believable.

Overall an excellent book. Not 5 star because it wasn’t that shocking an ending.

Thank you to Net Galley for my complementary e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My Synopsis: Bel and Rose Enright are twins, but they could not be more different. Rose loves academics and following the rules. Bel is a rebel and makes her own rules. After some changes in their family, the girls end up at the prestigious Odell Academy in New England. Bel falls in with an unsavory crowd and is pitted against her sister. Bel starts to idolize Heath, her advisor/teacher and the husband of Sarah, who Rose adores. As the story unfolds and a crime is trying to be solved, the reader starts questioning who can be trusted and who is out for themselves?

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book. I am a fan of books set at historic boarding schools/colleges, and I always love a fast paced thriller. I appreciated that the plot line was not predictable and I enjoyed the twists and turns. I liked the style of character development wherein we learned about some of the main characters little by little, with some very important information given towards the end of the book. I think this style added to the suspense and worked very well.

For Fans Of: The Broken Girls novel, page turners, books set at boarding schools, thrillers

This one keeps you guessing since you actually don’t know who has been killed until almost the end! Two very different twin sisters who have their lives turned upside down when their mom dies and they are forced to move and attend a private school. Make sure you read all the way trough...I listened to it and loved the twist at the very end!

I suspect that I'm just not the right audience for this one. I loved the premise and the pacing was really good, but the teen drama/mean girls thing is just overdone for me. A lot of the repetitive inner dialogue (especially by the naive wife) and teenagers yelling "I'm telling!" had me rolling my eyes and skimming pages by the second half of the book.
