I was surprised on this re-read at how many sentences I had practically memorized. I guess I internalized this book more than I thought I had.... This was the perfect book for me right now.

"No więc ja nie chcę być nikim innym jak tylko sobą samą. Nawet gdybym nie mogła pocieszać się brylantami. Bardzo się cieszę, że jestem Anne z Zielonych Szczytów i mam tylko sznurek sztucznych perełek. Wiem, że Matthew dał mi z nim co najmniej tyle miłości, ile są warte wszystkie klejnoty tej "różowej damy"."

Z każdym rereadem kocham coraz mocniej.

Heartwarming. Easy read as compared to most classics.

the most mystical, enjoyable, funny and charming read i've ever had. easily one of my top favourite books of the year. i still long to read the other parts. anne reminds me of the childhood i missed, and i reformed in every little way to be more myself unapologetically, and kindly. i've to bring some of the old competitiveness and spurs of energy now and then, and i'm counting on montgomery's other books to instill that in me. beautiful.

BOOK REVIEW: Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

I’m currently in a children’s and adolescent literature class in college, which I have genuinely come to love. after reading Matilda and Charlotte’s Web for the class, this is the first book I felt deserving of a review. I had seen a few episodes of Anne with an E, so I was really excited to start this one. and so…

here are my thoughts:

• ANNE AND MATTHEW’S RELATIONSHIP ARE YOU KIDDING!!!! their dynamic reminds me so much of mine with my dad (who, like Matthew, is significantly older than most parents)
• that being said, this book hit home for me in more ways than I can count. while I do wish I would have held onto my imagination as long as Anne had, and I definitely am not as talkative or social as her, I found pieces of myself in her throughout this novel
• this novel covers the span of 5 years, which was something I didn’t realize at the beginning. the chapters take on an adventure for each, with seasons changing along with the chapters and even sometimes with considerable time passing within the chapters themselves. while some don’t like the adventure per chapter type of layout with most not building off of each other (except for the first few when Anne gets to Green Gables), I really enjoyed it
• even though this is a children’s book, I found it incredibly touching and I was wrapped up in this world just the same at 21 years old. I found myself laughing and crying alongside Anne throughout the book

rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. an incredibly well-deserving perfect score. I can’t wait to restart and finish the tv series so I can watch all of my favorite characters (specifically Matthew <3) come to life. if this wasn’t a book that was picked up during your childhood, I highly recommend reading it now. it will warm your heart all the same
