as heart-wrenching as it is heartwarming, you really get lost in ben's journey. as for them and nathan, while there's no such thing as perfect, they’re pretty close. easy 5 star read.

loved the book, great representation and an honest experience that felt very honest and real. also a little deep and challenging tho, but i guess that comes with being queer.

Oh my gods I loved this book.  I have no idea why it took me so long to finally read but it’s such a regret that I didn’t pick it up sooner.  This book was comforting in a way I’m not sure makes sense when I try to explain other than saying; it felt like a comforting hug after a bad day.  The characters were so freaking lovable, Nathan was one of the definitions of ‘golden retriever energy’ and I will not be taking comments about it; Ben was adorable and they must be protected at all costs, and don’t even get me started on Hannah and Thomas they were both so kind—and I loved them very much.  10/10 and will be reading this again.

Reread on audio this time around. Still one of my favourites. The anxiety rep is really good. I need a Hannah and Thomas in my life

dont get me wrong, if this books main message was the representation of discovering identity and coming out as non-binary in ben’s situation, it was perfect.
but some of the side plots were a wee bit off to me, ben’s relationship with nathan felt quite unrealistic to me, and after getting used to ben’s personality, then them randomly bringing out the jokes after not wanted to even talk to anyone felt a little ehhhhh? you know, it felt like it wasn’t them

i did love the representation in this book very much, and i feel like its a very good book for non-binary or trans youth to read, but if representation isn’t what you came for, i feel you won’t like this book

love this book, there arent many books with a nonbinary main character, let alone a nonbinary love story. this book is definitley very entertaining and i reccomend it to anyone looking for a good lgbtq+ coming of age story. can get a bit cheesy/cliche but the story is still good.
