I love this book, it was very cutesy, very fall, and had some spice, what more could a girl want! I really didn’t know how I was going to like this book because I never got into Twilight as a teenager, but this exceeded my expectations for sure. This is the first book I read by Meg and I will definitely be reading more of her books. I’m very happy I got to read this ARC.

This book has been burning a hole in my mind for a few weeks, so I finally read it. I was not prepared for how much I’d like it.
I really like how the switch from friends to lovers started. So often it feels like a random shift (no pun intended), but in this case, there was an actual catalyst that makes sense in the story, even if it doesn’t necessarily make sense to Raegan and Jamie. It reinforces the magical nature of paranormal beings that usually isn’t highlighted enough in shifter romances. I also just like the idea that you could be around your mate for such a long time, but only when the universe finally aligns are you let in on it.
It was refreshing to read a MMC that struggled with his identity as a shifter. So often these stories feature an overly intense energy about being a shifter, and it was nice to see a male character actually question that. It made the connection with his mate more important, and gave both of them something to work toward: Raegan in crossing the line from friends to lovers and Jamie in accepting everything that being a shifter is, not just the parts he likes.
The author gave me an arc on tiktok and I’m so sorry to do this, but this book was not my cup of tea at all, which is such a bummer because I love werewolf stories!
It was just a little too over the top and everything was just too convenient and surface level for me. There was also a lot of cringy and plain weird language and situations that really took a lot out of me. Both MCs felt just kinda there and I felt like them + their friendship felt very one-dimensional and everything just happened so quickly to make me not connect with them.
I think that because this is a first book (I think?) the author has plenty of room to grow and realize her writing process. I know writing is hard and sharing your work with the world is scary, so kudos to her for doing that!

🌟 Thanks to the author for sending me this ARC
Shadow Hills, Tennessee is a small town where paranormals and humans peacefully coexist. While the town is a tourist hot spot for Halloween vibes all year round, it is home for Raegan Baker. Living among vampires and werewolves is completely normal for her and she has managed to carve out a peaceful life while working at the local bookstore, Bound & Buried, and hanging out with her best friends Jamie and Joanna. After a scary encounter with her ex-boyfriend, her relationship with Jamie begins to shift. However, Jamie has been harboring a secret from Raegan - he is a werewolf and madly in love with her. His struggles with identity were the impetus for maintaining this secret for so long but when his secret is revealed how will it effect his relationship with Raegan?
I'm not usually into "monster" romances but I really enjoyed this one - it was a nice intro into the genre. While it did seem like things moved very quickly, I appreciated this fast paced story. The main characters were absolutely adorable together and I was rooting for them from the very beginning. There weren’t any complicated conflicts and the resolutions were succient. The environment and lore of the small town was one of my favorite aspects (it really reminded me of Halloween Town) and makes me excited to see more characters in this setting. This book is great for those fall and Halloween vibes.

Thank you to the author for the eARC.
Cozy werewolf book with a fated mate vibe? And a cat? And a coffee snob?
Is there anything in this book I don’t like?? *the devil on my shoulder whispers friends-to-lovers trope*
I kid, but in reality the friends-to-lovers trope was done very well here. Raegan and Jamie were legitimately best friends with no awkward pining or decades long crush—it felt like their platonic love just really created a great foundation for the romance.
Howl was fun, sweet, and just a little bit sexy (don’t forget the knot
