I dont know if this book was mediocre compared to the first two or whether it is just hard for any book to follow a Brandon Sanderson read. It just felt flat and the writing and plo basic in comparison to Sanderson. I still enjoyed it, but I probably would have been more engaged if I had read in direct sequence with the first two, instead of a few months break in between (while waiting for this third book to come it.)
ok ok ok. the first book in the series was a little rough, but Mai Corland really seems to have found herself through this trilogy. The character development in this series is done so well, the emotional impacts are astounding, I found myself tearing up several times in the conclusion of this trilogy here.
The ending is wonderful for the kingdom and the open possibilities under the new leadership, my heart breaks for our friend in the temple of knowledge hoping to find his final solution.

Petition to rename this book Four Shattered Souls because mine is currently in a thousand little bits on the floor.
This was the most wonderfully epic ending to a wonderfully epic series. I adore this series and am going to miss it and its characters dearly (although have no doubt I’ll return to them in the future.) My heart might hurt right now but it’s a bittersweet kind of hurt that only finishing a favourite series can bring, so I’m happily relishing it.
