This was so meh. It started out really interesting but then just kind of fizzled out. There was no story or plot and nothing really happened and then it ended. The epilogue was intriguing but overall the whole story was kind of bland.

Great collaboration

I throughly enjoy the separate works of these authors so I had high expectations going into this book. I think the authors perfectly combined their strengths in this novel including Ivy’s amazing storytelling and KA’s talent of writing spice.

I was drawn into this book right away, we are thrown right into the story and bear witness to one of the darkest times of our FMC’s life. While it might be one of her darkest her many strengths shine throughout this encounter and the rest of the book.

I wouldn’t say this was a very dark book, some content would be considered dark but I felt it was still a pretty easy read. There are some stalking aspects, our MMC is a professional “unaliver”, but as always, read the trigger warnings to confirm the other trigger I didn’t mention are alright for you.

I cannot wait to continue reading this series.

I loved the beginning, but it quickly turned into insta lust for the FMC, and I couldn't understand it. She just accepted the MMC without any hesitation.
I might get back to it when I'm in a different mood.

I received a ARC and I'm willingly leaving a review with my own opinion.

This book had me by the throat!

This book had me by the throat!

The first chapters had me sobbing, I can't even imagine going through that.
It's damn hard putting thoughts into words, it’s a slow burn and some forbidden thoughts from Alaric.

Layla's little sister Zoey, doesn't have a great start to life but Layla does everything she can to make it better. Layla sacrifices everything for her sister. And when an opportunity comes, she can't refuse it.

Alaric is more than he seems, We get to know him and he goes through a transformation or growth after he encounters Layla. She becomes his purpose for living.

Decent dark romance

I liked this one. Not as dark as another stalker romance I've read but good all the same. Shows the lines between good and evil are not always black and white. Despite what people do, it's how they treat the people they love that matter. The romance that developed between these 2 was good too. Would recommend

Deadly Affair by K.A. Knight and Ivy Fox is a romantic suspense. This is the first book in the Deadly Love series.

I absolutely love Katie and Ivy's books and was so excited when they announced they would be doing this series together. And let me tell you they did not disappoint. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Layla and Alaric. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Deadly Match so I can get Zoey and Gray's story.

I would recommend this book if you like romantic suspense or contemporary romances.

(I received an ARC for this book)

Trigger Warnings include:
domestic abuse, child abuse/neglect/assault, foster care system, attempted murder, murder, torture, stalking

I need to stay away from her before I do something I might regret—like kidnap her and keep her all to myself. Or worse. Kill anyone who gets in my way.

That prologue was TORTURE. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a sister or a mom, or just a human with a heart, but OUCH! Alaric had my attention from the start. The heartless contract killer, and we got to watch him grow a heart in real time. Of course, that heart was only for Layla and Zoey. But my obsession with him had nothing on his obsession with protecting those girls. And it definitely had NOTHING with his obsession with Layla. Oh my heart! Alaric and Layla met when she was still underage…and there was a little bit of time there I was getting concerned. But I had nothing to worry about, because besides his profession, Alaric is a stand up guy. He was willing to wait for however long it took for her to be ready for him. But when he comes upon her new place of employment, he’s tired of waiting. Getting married will fix everyone’s problems. And it absolutely seems that way! Alaric gets Layla, Layla gets her sister the help she needs. Alaric makes sure they both feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. They’re his family, and he never stops proving that they are both so very important to him. He gives Layla an out so she doesn’t feel pressured to have sex with him. He makes sure she knows she deserves the world and he wants to give it to her. So really, what could go wrong? She’s not really into contract killers. Which is a serious mood killer! And marriage killer! But of course, because Alaric is a standup guy…he respects Layla and her wishes, his own happiness be damned. (How dare an obsessive contract killer make me swoon like he does!) I was getting worried this was goint to be a cliffhanger…but have no fear! Layla gets with the program and does something that shocked both me AND Alaric! This was fun, it was sweet, it was HOT (like really hot), and it had a whole lot of heart. And let me tell you, my jaw dropped to the floor reading the drama in the epilogue and then the snippet from the next book!

I think the writing style of this book and how kind of “choppy” it is ruined it for me.
I liked the idea of her doing whatever it takes to provide for her family and i like his entrance into her world but once they officially meet, it was unfoturnately downhill for me. I just wanted more tension and angst between the two and i personally, didnt get that. With that said, i am excited to try some more of this authors books out though.
