I swear every book in this series gets progressively kinker. Avi is a true masochist and Felix enjoys pain play too. There is knife play, blood play, wax play, bondage, and even more.

This book solves all of the complaints I had about Asa's book. In this book, we actually explore the depths of Asa and Avi's relationship and how their future with Felix and Zane will look.

My only complaint about this book is how different Felix is in the book compared to how he is discussed in the books leading up to it. Given how fierce Felix is described in the previous books I was a bit dismayed to find that he actually suffers crippling anxieties and is plagued by self-doubts.  It killed me a little that someone other characters were expecting to immediately dominate Avi's life was so wholly convinced that Avi didn't even want him.

I love the Necessary Evils series and this book, like the ones before, did not disappoint. I was hesitant about Avi's book since I wasn't a huge fan of him or Felix, but Avi is such a sweetheart and made me instantly love him seeing how much he cared for Felix, in his own psychopathic, early on. Felix definitely grew on me throughout his book because I understood and related to a lot of his personal insecurities that held him back in a lot of ways.
I loved Felix and Avi's dynamic. I loved getting to understand Avi more and understand the murder twins dynamic.the subplot mystery was intense but engaging. And getting more insight into the mysterious Aiden was such a highlight.
I think this book felt the most emotional to me after August and Lucas in Psycho and Avi&Felix now revival as my favorite couple in this series.

I’ve loved the series since book one, but Onley does a truly artful job of developing their writing as well as ALL the characters in the series book by book even as each focuses on a different couple. I adore seeing characters who I came to love and understand evolve throughout every other book, while teasing the upcoming books. Noah is as always a treasure, we see Atticus more confident thanks to his relationship with Jericho, the Thomas/Aiden tension is RIPE. This book especially does a fantastic job of not only exploring Avi/Felix, but also Asa/Avi and the wonderfully balanced relationship between Felix/Zane. We really see how each person brings out an important part of another, so the dynamic between the four if them feels organic and integrated rather than secondary to Avi/Asa as every other relationship has been in their lives before. Felix has a wonderful conflict of vulnerability and viciousness similar to Dayton in Elite Protection, and his character is fleshed out and compelling that is perfectly on brand with the previous characters in the series. The romance and sex are as always very well integrated and tied into both the characters themselves and the dynamic between them as they develop their relationship
