The book wnt from "I'm not gonna fall for him" to "He's my guy" in about 10 pages. That was way to fast for my taste. And I really, REALLY did not appreciate that the book ends on a cliffhanger, because apparently you had to tell this couples story in two seperate books. And the narrator in the audio book tells me the second part is out now: BOLD LIE!!!

went into this expecting it to be the equivalent of trashy, barely readable, smutty ao3 fan fiction. but it actually had like a decent plot and complex issues that the characters are trying to tackle. pleasantly surprised.

Ok, I loved Scoring With Him because:
1. I loved getting to know Grant better, who I've gotten to kind of meet and know in the Virgin Rulebook and the Virgin Gameplan, and he's charming and affable, and I want him as my friend.
2. I finally got to know the mysterious Declan, who has had cameo appearances in both books. I knew there was something there between the two of them from The Virgin Gameplan, now we know.
Where am I now? Totally in love with both Grant and Declan, who not only are these hot baseball players, but they both have an adorable nerd side. Grant is a History buff, and he knows a lot of Greek and Roman mythology. Declan is into birds. It's just delicious reading about these two and hearing their conversations. ARRRAGGHHHHH, and it's the first part of a duet...so CLIFFHANGER!
Scoring With Him is a sweet and beautiful story of two people falling in love in major league sports. I loved all the characters, and the story was well-paced and engaging; I simply did not want it to end. Now I wait for the HEA to come.

Scoring with Him is the first book in the Men of Summer Series by Lauren Blakely. Yes, you read that right, series. It ends on a cliffhanger but you don't have to wait long for the rest of their story. I have read every word Lauren has ever written, and this book is hands down my absolute favorite. You also read that right. My. Absolute. Favorite. We already know Grant a little and have seen and met Declan briefly in the Rules of Love series, but you don’t have to have read those to enjoy this! Here's what you need to know. Grant and Declan are baseball players. Grant is a rookie catcher reporting to Spring Training for the first time. Declan is a four year veteran all star shortstop who Grant might have had a little crush on. They are on the same team. Grant is trying to get the starting catcher job. They can't get involved. But they can't not see each other so they agree to be just friends. They start working out together, talking, having fun. Baseball is all they've ever wanted and they can't take a chance on their futures. But it's too hard to stay away from each other. When Declan finds out Grant is a virgin and he wants to explore his sexuality with him, he can't refuse the sexy catcher. One sexy, lust filled kiss leads to so much more. Stolen moments together. Sneaking around. It's temporary and has to end so why not have fun while they can. But what happens when emotions and feelings start to happen? Can they be together and still do their jobs? This. Book. My. Lord. Declan is so guarded and sexy and I loved the way he wanted to protect Grant. He's older and has been in the game longer so he knows what it takes. It's not just a physical game, it's mental too. And, Grant? Sigh. He's everything I wanted him to be and much more. So. Much. More. He's young, but he's not innocent. He's worked his entire life to play the game he loves. He needs to focus and be ready. Meeting Declan is just a bonus. He's always had a little crush, but it didn't even remotely compare to the real thing. The heat. The lust. The feelings. The intensity. This book just blew me away. Lauren never ceases to amaze me with her writing, her characters and her stories. Scoring With Him got me right in the feels. I laughed, cried, had to seriously fan myself and enjoyed every second of it. I actually cried three times! That's a first for me! Grant and Declan are the perfect couple. Talented, smart, sexy, funny and intense. They connect on more than just a physical level and it's a beautiful journey. And the nicknames? I was swooning all over the place and every time they said them I got the tingles. We also get a lot of baseball, which I loved!! I could picture Grant squatting behind home plate making calls. And Declan up to bat, ready to swing. Dear Lord, I couldn't love this couple more and I can not wait to see how their story ends.
