Bought out of curiosity and finished in a few days.
Like most I am familliar with Beowulf through past stories and most commonly the animated movie from several years ago.

It is a simplistic yet pleasing read, emphasizing the: beginning, climax, fall, like most early on books contain.

Several good mentioned qualities of justice and finding strength in weakness.
You don't need to be an expert reader to understand Beowulf, if anything this is a great introduction for getting into books.

This is a fun and exciting retelling of the famous poem. Read this to my 6 and 5 year old. They loved all the blood and guts, which there was a lot of at the beginning.

This book was quite enjoyable. It wasn't slow or challenging, just a nice in-between kind of book. Good to catch up when you are behind on your yearly reading challenge. Beowulf just seems like a chill, self aware dude. I enjoyed the ending and his love of bees.

I'm scoring this a 5/5 purely as an ELA teacher. My middle schoolers were HOOKED and left class every day talking about it. I highly recommend to any middle school teachers.

I was given this book when I was in the 7th grade. I fell in love with the story because it was dark and eerie and because Beowulf was such a great hero. It kept me looking for new versions of the story and also reading the classic interpretations. It may irritate someone who wants to read a more accurate text of the story so if this is you steer clear. I will always have a special place for this book in my heart and feel that it has been a big influence on the reading I have chosen since I was a teen.

I think one reason I liked it so much was because it was such a drastic change fro. The other books they make us read in school. This one was soooooo much better!
