So I realised this story is a retelling of Beauty in the Beast. The only difference being instead of a beast, he’s a vampire and its achillean or a m/m story. I can honestly say that at first I wasn’t really into it once I realise it was a retelling. But as I continue reading I then found myself more engaged in the characters especially Marius. If the next book has the same couple then I will definitely read it.

I liked everything about this Book. Except for the last one and a half chapters.

In the second to last chapter, I had a „really? This is how it ends? I didn’t expect that and I love that!“ moment. Then it goes on to turn around and make me go „oh yeah here it is, this is what I figured would happen“. Which dampened the amount of joy I had while reading. Additionally: The way the characters acted in the last chapter felt very out of place to me.

But honestly? I’m kind of whining about my own high standards and things that I would’ve preferred a little different Plot-wise. Someone else will surely love this ending  just the way it is.

Oh. My. God.

This was my first read of 2022 and I was not disappointed. I was prepared for the mlm spin of Beauty and the Beast. I was NOT prepared for the Vampire origin story??? I can't even begin to explain how much i absolutely adore this take on vampirism.

And the prospect of Marius, Jak, and Katharine developing a family dynamic??? That's how I perceived it and I give it a 10/10.

Also... "My Jak"... That sends me into orbit.

I absolutely adore this book, I'm excited for the future of this book universe.

This book isn't what I thought it was but it was still amazing. If all the "I was sent to kill you but fell in love" tropes are done this way, then yes please give me more!! The ending almost had me enraged but it ended up being amazing. What a great book.
