Best romantasy I’ve read in a while. Unique plot and loved the chemistry between FMC and MMC. Couldn’t give it a full 5 stars because the plot twist was predictable and I just couldn’t get over how the character’s history didn’t match with their ages and experience. Instead of classified as YA it should be New Adult

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The world wasn’t too difficult to get into, so if you’re not into complicated fantasy settings but crave a fantasy book this is a great pick.

I do wish we got to see Rune rescuing witches as opposed to being told. The main focus of this book was definitely the romance which I didn’t mind, just be aware of that going into the book. I enjoyed the characters a lot and the cat and mouse chase between Rune and Gideon. Overall, it was a nice easy read and the vibes were there.

Just be warned if you don’t like blood or gore. There isn’t a lot but it’s a huge part of the magic system.

I'm mixed as I'm not a big fan of love triangles and Gideon is not a good person as he has killed children just for being witches through no choice of their own. But the setting was fun.  If Alex was the main love interest and not there to be the loser of the triangle...I would continue but Gideon is not likeable and I feel no chemistry between the 2.

WAHHH this was everything I wanted and MORE give me the sequel immediately oh my starssss!!!

We seek him here, we seek him there...

This was an incredible historical-vibes Fantasy with WITCHES and COURTLY BALLS and DECEPTION and BEAUTIFUL CHARACTERS like please I adored Gideon and Rune from the very first page and oh my goodness like not only was this an incredible retelling of one of my fav musicals but it was EVEN BETTER than the original? Like please give me the girlies who are struggling with the fact that they literally have to embody the stereotype of a brainless happy-go-lucky material girl in order to be accepted at all?? But don't worry because in the background they are literally vigilantes because of course they are!! I never had a moment where I disliked Rune or Gideon, they were both brilliantly written and I freaking adore them!! I just : no shortage of good things to say about this book! Please read it RIGHT NOW.
