I skipped this on the first blitz through because it looked like it was probably going to be pretty racist. But then I thought "well, it's the second one, and introduces some new characters, and I should probably check it out and see if I missed any major plot stuff." I did not miss any major plot stuff (you really can read these things in any order), and it was indeed racist. The science of the month was interesting though: The characters go to Tibet because they've put a radio relay on the Moon (see moon rocket last book), and want to test it for International communication to the other side of the planet. I had a number of questions about this, logistically, but it was really interesting to see something like this written in 1947, when the author didn't seem to be thinking about artificial satellites at all.
