I feel like an overall 3/5 is a fair rating for this book. I enjoyed the format of being a letter to a lawyer (although at times I think this could have been improved upon) and feeling like it was creative non-fiction as opposed to literary fiction. The best part of this book for me was reading about how the character’s morality had strayed from what she knew was logically right/wrong, and instead became influenced by Facebook guidelines, without being cognizable of the fact.

Some perspectives are hard to write about. Bervoets explores the complexities of trauma in a nuanced and empathetic way, confronting the influence of horrific content on human behaviour with complete recognition of the human. The book is gripping, though at times a little triggering personally (triggering details are never the focus of this story though). Thank you Hanna for this story.
