Wow, that whole twin plot still makes my head spin and I've read this book twice. So the whole time the girls were friends with Ali, they were actually friends with her twin, Courtney. Courtney is mentally insane and pretends to be Ali and has lived in a mental institution for this. Once during a visit, she tricks everyone and Ali gets sent to the mental institution. When Ali comes back, she murders Courtney, causing everyone to think Ali got murdered. At the very end, Ali tries to murder the girls for being friends with Courtney. This book is insane and it's my favorite in the series.
Excellent, delicious, soapy conclusion to the PLL series. Makes you want to go back and sift through the clues again in each book with new eyes. Even better, there are so many lies and twists in this book, we can also leave open the possibility that all conclusions and explanations may also be peppered with lies. The ending is good, but also reads like a horror tale, and you have a sense, that if she wanted to, Ms. Shepard could at any point say, "A's baaacck" and write a fresh set of books.
though there are technically eight more books, i am deciding to end my journey here. this one wrapped it all up very nicely and i can’t live in this world anymore. farewell, pretty little liars. thanks for all of the head shakes and discomfort

She should have ended them when she said she was going to instead of attempting to keep a series going when it had already ended. Each and every book gets more ridiculous and more unbelievable. Accept the end rather than forcing it...it's painful to read.
These may be the worst books I've ever read. I do not understand why people like them so much, it scares me a little. At one point there was potential, but that flew out the window as soon as Shepard began writing another story after she'd already decided to end it...and then did it again. Ugh. Give me a break.
