It was ok. Not my favorite. I find I get very frustrated at how Stephanie writes her female heroines. They all tend to be so single minded that they ignore the warning signs around them and plow through those who are trying to help them or starting to care for them. But I do tend to be satisfied at the end of her stories if not a bit worn out from the struggle getting the FMC's to open their eyes. HAHA.

The first time I read this book, I read a physical copy. This time around, I listened to the audiobook.

Was the experience the same?
Yes and no. No, because I knew I'd get lost in this magical world. I knew I'd go back to Caraval without it feeling too different. What I didn't expect is for the audiobook to add to the experience. I only listened while laying in bed with all lights off and.. I felt transported the moment I started listening until the moment I had to stop due to falling asleep.
I wish I could say I had magical dreams because of it but alas I rarely remember my dreams.

Did I enjoy it as much as I did the first time around?
Absolutely! I remembered the big plot but all the small things passed me by the first time around and.. those are the things that make rereading worth it. You pick up way more clues, small things and details you overlooked during your first read. That alone made it worth it.

So.. Tella?
Ugh. I don't know. I still don't know. I don't really have a connection with either of the sisters, to be honest. I love the story, I love Julian and I love the world. But those two sisters? I simply don't really care about them? Is that a bad thing?

Anyway! Definitely five stars this time around as well.

At first it seemed like a simple YA book about a Carnival and that almost made me lose interest however as the story progressed I did feel dragged in. The little details in the story is so cool, Scarlett and Julian’s relationship is something I very much hope will last, I’m intrigued for the next one.
