I was totally on the edge of my seat, biting my nails with how the plot was going to play out in this dark, kidnapping book. It was a twisted, wild ride.

Liam is a man who walks in a morally gray world. While he recently made the switch to work for Angel as a mercenary, he would not call himself a good guy. When he makes a rash decision to kidnap Raya he never thought through the ramifications of who she was or what it would do to his life, he just snapped, but it didn't take long to realize that even if it ruined his life, he would never regret a moment of it.

Mistakes Made was hot on a completely different level and the relationship that developed between Liam and Raya was also something that developed on an intense level, but completely different than I was expecting. I enjoyed that surprise more that I thought I would.

Raya originally began the book a complete shell of a woman, a puppet in her father's world, and honestly I wasn't a real fan, but by the end of the book, I loved the woman she became and this character development is not only what held me, but made me fan of this couple.

Mistakes Made is a wild ride from start to finish and I really had no idea how it was going to end. This entire series has had me off kilter, which I love, and I'm looking forward to each new story and what new twist is brought to the forefront.

Very good story of a woman catching a man’s eye only for her to dismiss him. This sets off a series of events that I could not see coming.
Liam leads a secretive life, crossing the line from good guy to bad guy so easily and flawlessly. Rama is the daughter of a senator, who is up and coming for the presidential race, and she is beautiful, dutiful, and so very respectful. But she always craves the love and affection she is denied.
Great story!

Lessons Learned From The Mistakes Made

Ok so, just a warning, whether you’re already a fan of Marie or not. This series is not like wrapping up in a warm cuddly blanket….it’s like throwing on your spanx and those heels that pinch your toes. You may end up being uncomfortable some of the time, but you’re going on a heck of a ride for the evening that’ll make it all worth it

Mistakes Made is the second book in the Mission Mercenaries series. I really enjoyed the first book and was looking forward to this one. I was not disappointed. Ms. James delivered another twisted, dark romance with a broken hero that needs someone to help them see the good in life again.
Liam snapped when Raya looked down upon him and kidnapped her only to discover she is the daughter of a senator. That doesn’t keep him from making her his. Raya was sheltered and her life was dictated by her controlling parents. She knew she was only a pawn in her parent's political games they played to get elected. After being kidnapped, she wanted to control her own life and knew she couldn’t return to her previous life.
I loved watching Raya grow and find her inner strength once she was away from her parents. Liam also showed growth as he came to care about Raya’s happiness when he was used to only worrying about himself. This was a great book with plenty of spice. It is darker than some of the author’s other series so beware of the triggers. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The second book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. This is a mercenary for hire group and this is the story about Liam and Raya. The senators daughter that he kidnapped. She’s had a bad life with the senator. A pawn if you will. This was a dark read, with extra spice. Liam is a cold person and Raya is unloved. Interesting combination they made.

I received this ARC through the publisher and I am voluntarily reviewing this book, opinions are my own.

This book was awesome and to me did not feel as dark as the first book in the series. This has been a great series so far and I can’t wait for the other books in the series to come out.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was completely unprepared for the amount of twists this book contained and how far on the edge of my seat it kept me on. I couldn’t believe how deceitful and toxic Liam and Raya both were but I also couldn’t believe how intrigued I was by that. A very interesting, non conventional relationship depiction had me hooked very early. Ohhhhhh and the steammmmmmm. Very good read. Will go back and read book 1 for sure.

TITLE: Mistakes Made
GENRE: Dark Romance
AUTHOR: Marie James
TROPE: Kidnapping, Forced Proximity, Suspense
TYPE: Series (Mission Mercenaries Book 2)
POV: Dual POV
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

Liam Stone is a mercenary who runs into Raya one afternoon. He feels dismissed and slighted by her lack of interest in him. Liam is tired of being judged and rejected by people, so he kidnaps Raya to scare her and teach her a lesson. The only issue with this plan is Raya turns out to be the Senator's daughter, which means there is no easy way out of this mistake Liam has made. Mistakes Made is a quick read I finished in just one evening; it was not quite as dark as the first book in the series, but it is still a dark romance, so checking the trigger warnings is recommended. I am giving Mistakes Made a rating of 4 / 5 Stars.

This book is a good example of when twisted impulses can turn into something unexpectedly good. Mistakes Made by Marie James is the 2nd book from her new Mission Mercenaries series. This series is a spin-off from her Cerebus MC series but is a life of its own.
In this book we meet Liam who is one of Angel's mercenaries. He's more of a loner and likes to keep to himself as well as anything about him. To keep up appearances he goes to the beach with a couple co-workers and she's a woman who doesn't acknowledge him. For some reason unknown to him it irks him into needing to teach her a lesson. That woman is Raya and Liam doesn't have the slightest clue what her life is really like. Appearances can be deceiving in this case and what you see on the outside is not what it's like on the inside. But what else can you expect from a Senator's daughter. Appearances are everything in her world.
Liam thought he would be able to teach Raya a quick lesson and scare her into being more polite I guess you could say. I don't want to give any spoilers away. But he learned really quickly the mistake he made. Not only did he take a Senator's daughter, a Senator getting ready to run for President of the United States but he realized he felt a connection to her that could not be ignored no matter how much he fought himself to. And although Raya was scared to death from what happened, she grew to like Liam and was happy she wasn't at home in the limelight with her parents anymore. But all things must come to an end. A security team hired by Raya's father ends up finding them and they try to run until Liam realizes he can't keep her on the run for the rest of her life. She deserves better. This is where the twists come into the story. Most would think it's Stockholm Syndrome and I'm sure it is on some level but you'll have to read the book to find out.
My overall opinion is that Marie James gave us another good one especially after the 1st book in the series which I recommend reading if you want some background details. This book can also be a trigger for some but I didn't find it all that triggering compared to some books I've read. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series. I predict it will be another good one.

Liam’s mistake is possibly the best one he could ever make if he can survive the outcome with Raya that is.

Best forced proximity/Stockholm syndrome I’ve read.
