Re-Read Date: 04/24/24 - 04/27/24
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ .5
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Tropes: best friends brother, enemies to lovers, work place, billionaire, bad boy MMC
POV: first person, dual pov
Plot: really good
Ending: swoon
Synopsis: Nash and Emery have known each other for years, but ever since her dad was accused of embezzling from his company and subsequently causing the company to fall and then the deaths of two people, Nash has made it his mission to all of those complicit pay. Including Emery.
My opinion:
Pros: this book is really good. It straddles the line of awkward because he's known her since she was a literal child and he was an adult (10 year age gap) and hot when they actually get together well. Nash is broken because of everything he's experienced in life and Emery is broken because of the last four years. Together they make each other better and fight for one another.
Cons: there's just something holding me back from giving this a full 5 stars. It might be the weirdishness around the friendship when she was young (there is never any stated attraction on their side until they are both adults). Or it might be that while Nash had his reasons he constantly made it his mission to embarrass and harass Emery before he truly knew of her circumstances. Maybe it's because I don't really love Reed and the relationship he had with Emery. Overall, there's something holding me back, but it really is a great book overall.

I am a HUGE FAN of Parker's books, and Devious lies did not disappoint. It had the perfect mix of plot, stroy building, character building, and sexual tension between the characters. I really adore how she is able to build characters that you can take to in the story. I adored Nash and Emery's banter and interactions, I could not put this book down!

I hate this book. I hate emery. Why is she made out to be this saint??? she’s squatting in a hotel living in a fucking closet, owns two pair of pants and you’re telling me she donates 2500 dollars monthly to sponsor a college student? GIRL. There is just so much going on. In fact there is too much going on, that’s why the book is 700 pages long.
I get that the author is trying to enforce this idea of fate and destiny but I literally cannot get past the fact that they’re coincidentally pen pals and do stuff over the phone, completely unaware that they’re talking to each other while also being attracted to each other in person. girl, I don’t, I can’t even explain it. What the actual f

for me
The beginning was really good. The middle was a little less good but still good and the end was eh. It was boring and dragged out. It got boring and just underwhelming. The rest of the book is super good and is worth the hype. The ending was eh and was not my favorite. Overall it was an okay book. Overall average. 3/5
