I had never read Isabelle Allende but after hearing her interviewed I was fascinated by her and decided to try her latest. I’m not sure how this one compares to her others but this one was not great for me.  Started out OK set in San Francisco but once we got to Chile(75 pages in)it became like a history lesson of the civil war in Chile.  I learned some things about Chile but this was not enough . I would look forward to a memoir by Isabelle Allende though!  She seems like a very interesting person!

This book was a bit boring for me. Because of that, I lost focus and the book felt slow. I had expected more colorful storytelling, but it was mostly historical. I’m not very familiar with the wars that took place in Chile, so it felt somewhat distant and hard to relate to. The relationship also felt a bit flat, which made it seem unrealistic.
