One of the goriest, body horror focused, books I’ve read. This is a fresh take on classic horror, and I really enjoyed this. It does read like a first novel, and there are some lines I cringed at a bit. But, these things come with time, and this is a really good start to a series. I have an itch to know where the answers Daren
A small critique is that the editing isn’t perfect. There are a few places where you can tell there should be punctuation or another word. But, this is not uncommon for a self-published title, and I think this can be forgiven.

Summary of my review: Nicely written, good depiction of horror, unrealistic, poor character development, disappointing ending
Nevertheless of my rating, I really think how the horror was depictured here and the whole adjectives to empathise it were really cool. This author can write about a creepy plot and about creepy creatures!
I disliked how unrealistic this book was. At first we got corpses that only our broadcast team could see as the police didn't found them at first even though they searched BEFORE and with EQUIPMENT specialised for this. And then the police tells them most don't know about what is actually going on with the fog and stuff, but apparently at the same time the police gets lots of reports about weird occurrences and Evelyn and Daniel also get phone calls, so I think the whole small town knows that there is something wrong and the police doesn't solve it themselves put let other people who are innocent and didn't even knew what they are signed up for do it. And unfortunately, the police officers make stupid deicisons.
Evelyn mentioned she stopped doing something (won't mention it due to spoilers) right at the first day of work, but we never saw any symptoms of withdrawal. It just seemed so odd and made no sense. Her whole character development wasn't there or rather out of place. We know from her backstory how her 'thing' started due to her brief encounter, which also makes no sense and then we get her just being brave out of nowhere and never having symptoms of withdrawal. Like what? There isn't any 'one step back, two steps forward' or whatever, just a 'step forward, step forward...' she never has any breaking points or moments where she gets back to her 'old self'. Her development is way too drastic and unrealistic.
Ending was so disappointing. Especial when I found out that the creatures in the wood were exactly as I thought they were. And the ending definitely tells you that there will be another book, but honestly the ending wasn't exciting enough to say; ‘Yes, I want to read the next one too!’
Wasn't for me. It's not that original and as a big horror fan I'm not very good with repetitions after already consuming so much of horror. If you search for something new and exciting this might just be as disappointing for you as for me, but if you are new to horror or don't mind the unoriginality then this might be for you.
