It seems interesting.  I just couldn't get into it.  I don't think it was what I needed right now.

Good, it floated between a popular read and something a little more serious and I don't think it always navigated that dynamic well and I wasn't the biggest fan of the way chronology worked but overall I found it was well done.

“History changes course when people realize there is an alternative to blind obedience.”
Wow. Never before has a book sent me into a spiral of emotions like this one did. I picked this up due to a hyperfixation on the Cold War, and was immediately hooked on the author’s words. Now that I know more about Operation Ajax, I find myself determined to learn more about similar topics.
I do think you’d need a brief overview on the events before picking this up. Knowing about the Marshall Plan and generally about the Truman Doctrine were helpful.

An absolutely essential read for anyone who wants to understand America's involvement in the Middle East — past and present — and some of the key historical decisions that have shaped the world's view of American foreign policy.
