My first full-length-novel-read-in-less-than-24-hours read of 2022! I loved it, and am so glad I have part two of the series waiting for me as well :D
First I should do something besides reading though, bunny homes don't clean themselves, unfortunately.

This was adorable and so relatably awkward. Declan is a cinnamon roll for sure. I loved Sidney and their ability to communicate and reason through things. I am much more like Declan lol.
Also, *chef's kiss* to all of the amazing queer rep!

OMG, these books are too adorable!  Seriously, the characters are just so freaking sweet, I can’t even.
In this one, which is the first in the series (and yes, I’m reading them out of order), it is the story of Declan and Sidney.  Sidney is genderqueer, and I think this is the first book (definitely the first romance) that I’ve read with a genderqueer person in it.  As a cisgender person, I’m still learning about other genders and I really liked Sidney (Declan, too, though he’s a bit of a disaster).  Maybe it’s weird for me to say, but I really liked that throughout the book Sidney was genderqueer, using they/them pronouns, there was absolutely zero mentions about what gender they grew up as, they were just themselves.  I really appreciated that that is how they were written, that Declan just completely accepts them as is.
I also liked how normalized therapy is.  When Declan messes up, he realizes how terrible he’s feeling and makes an appointment with his therapist.  Therapy is a good thing and needs to be talked about more in fiction.
Overall, very enjoyable read, and I will be moving on to the second in the series ASAP.

Couldn’t get into the story-characters fell flat and dialogue was clunky. Writing just wasn’t for me

i loved how this book looked at relationships. Dates aren’t everything and it’s nice to see romantic relationships that aren’t just fancy dinners and well planned dates. i also really appreciated the emphasis on communication. not many romances talk about healthy relationships stuff.

Up until the last conflict I loved the book. I loved seeing queer characters in a healthy relationship complete with boundaries and communication. However I felt as though that final conflict was a little unnecessary or could have been changed in someway. Overall a good book just had a few parts I didn't enjoy as much.

The diversity in this book was ASTRONOMICAL. There was POC rep and LGBTQIA+ rep that I was absolutely here for. The thing I loved the most about the book however was how both of the main characters were respectful of each other's space and understood each other and always asked for consent, something most authors out there ignore.

It was refreshing to see how the author portrayed the social norms for queers and how the main characters dealt with not fitting in and still being valid. The way panic attacks and anxiety weren't used as a prop for the plot and were actually a part of the character was nice to see.

As for the side characters, I would DIE for Mason. He is an absolute sweetheart and deserves the world. His character was so well planned and he knew exactly the right things to say in many instances. The rest of the mfkers were also a delight to get to know about in the book. Definitely thrilled about getting to know Oscar better in the next book.

With all that being said, I did want to dig myself a hole and disappear because of second-hand embarrassment for about the first 50 pages of the book but powering through it was definitely a good choice. If you want an emotional yet funny book with kickass characters then you should definitely pick this book up.
