I really enjoyed this - I struggled to put it down. Having read The Words by Ashley Jade, I was really excited to read about Memphis and Skylar. I was quite surprised that this book was only pre-band. The toxicity of Josh really bothered me, but I know it's supposed to. Either way, once again Ashley Jade has given us a sexy rockstar romance that just rips your heart out and I cannot wait for the second book!

From reading The Words, I didn't know Josh was truly a "bad guy" but there were no redeeming qualities with him. I am impatiently waiting for the reveal when Skylar finds out it was Memphis who killed her uncle....

Oof. That was HEAVY. When I started it, I didn’t realize it was connected to the author’s other book, The Words, which I freaking LOVED. This book was super angsty and emotional. I understand why Josh is the way he is, rightfully so, but he’s a manipulative asshole and, while I feel for him, I kinda hate his guts. This book ends when the three leads are all 18, so I’m looking forward to the next part of the duet to see if it closes the gap to where they are in The Words, or maybe even goes a little beyond.

Well, I'll start off by saying that I made it, but barely. The amount of times that I wanted to throw my kindle as I made my way through The Choice. I will say if you had any sort of dislike of Josh from The Words, that dislike will increase soooooo much more. Truly wanted to strangle him and steal Skylar and Memphis away from him.

Prepare yourself to go through such a wide range of emotions. If you're coming into this after finishing The Words, you'll definitely have a ton of questions answered and a better understanding of these three characters. I was able to connect a lot of dots, but my goodness, I never imagined the beginning of them to be like this. All three of these characters are broken in their own ways and have gone through their share of trauma. And you'll see that really come through their thoughts and actions, as maddening as they can be.

Ashley warned us from the beginning that we had to get through the extremely tough beginning of Skylar and Memphis story before we get their HEA. And I just know it'll be all worth it, but I have zero idea how my heart will hold up. I was definitely surprised by certain things, infuriated with naivety of one character (yet understanding why). Your heart will feel one thing, but your mind will make you understand.

Yes, there's a cliffhanger and oof, knife in the heart. The Consequence won't be too far away, thank goodnes because that book is an absolute need.

I survived The Choice, but just barely.

Bravo, Ashley... you've done it again!
