I would give it 5 stars, but I would rather reserve that rating for an impossibly exceptional book. This is an incredible story about the awakening of love and desire. Beautifully written, narrated through the eyes, ears, and heart of 17-year old Elio. And having read Aciman's memoir-essays (Alibis), I can't help but see Aciman writing himself into the sentences, revealing his own questions and insights about place, time, and people. He also writes for the senses, and you can feel the places as you read. Lovely book for the summer, but timeless.

Okay so at the beginning and honestly up until like halfway through the 3rd chapter, I was bored. The angst and moping of the narrator went on for WAY too long, but once it picked up, it was really nice.

This is the most wonderful thing in the world to me and I would undoubtedly die for Elio
