Fantastic collections of short and micro fiction. A little bit of everything: life, death, extra-dry humour, little 'oh!' moments. Some of these stories were so small and yet they felt so big and powerful. Like diving into a cold lake, you're overwhelmed and amazed and then almost as quickly, back out into the sun and air. Loved them.

Full disclosure: I know Doug. But on a completely unrelated note, this book was surprising and really, really enjoyable. Funny and a bit heartbreaking, each story is written with a dry, often satirical wit with enough vulnerability and tenderness to make it less farce and more fairy tale. In a good way.
