this book was just so! lovely!

i admit that i tend to struggle with regency romances, but this one had me hooked from the very beginning. i mean, who wouldn't love a plot like this? a retired career criminal agreeing to do One Last Job for the charming lord who won't seem to stop showing up. add in the fact that sebastian has written two distinct and layered heroes, and you have a truly winning combination.

i adored both of the heroes. i appreciated that throughout the course of the book we got to see both kit and percy wrestle with the things they had always thought to be true vs. the newer developments in their lives. seeing kit soften around percy, and percy give more and more of himself to kit was swoon-worthy. it felt nearly impossible to fall in love with this love story!

i also really loved the running commentary on honor and duty, revenge and spite. the action was well-written as well; it made those scenes much more alive and the stakes were definitely clear. overall, i had the best time losing myself in this fun, funny, and incredibly satisfying romance!
