A fun and enjoyable Cat Sebastian read, with great characters and a plot that keeps the pages turning. While not my favorite book of hers, overall a solid read. Looking forward to the release of [b:The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes|58986612|The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes|Cat Sebastian|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1637077874l/58986612._SX50_.jpg|92987770] in a couple days!
I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads Giveaway. This in no way affects my opinion.

Amazing story. I love the characters and the story kept me on edge wanting to know what would come next.
**The copy of this book that I read was an ARC**
A cute, oddly close book, with limited enough locations that watching Kit and Percy shift around the coffeeshop in varying orbits (good on you sir, making the toff come to you) almost felt like a play. A bit regimented as it marches through the romance playlist, and I do wish the secondary cast were fleshed out a bit more (Betty: call me; Rob and Marian: s2g the second bunch of Sherwood-esque crime-adjacent folks not even trying to be slick about it in as many books; Collins: a credit to your name, pity about the cousin; Scarlett & Flora: were they really just there for the [REDACTED], like; Dorothy: shouldn't we be lingering with the crone thief a little longer), but overall an easy, enjoyable read.
On a personal note: As always, major props to committing to Georgian beauty standards (the velvet patches alone...& the powder! Caked in lead, that man is). Kudos to centering the constantly present friction of class on English society, instead of offhandedly having someone drag themselves to the Lords to have an unqualified say about the Corn Laws. No Tory shite in the privies indeed.

This one was fun and there were parts that I loved, but it felt a little disjointed/incomplete. The next book features the story of two of the secondary characters, I think over this same time period, so I’m guessing parts of the story were held back for that book. Will definitely try one of her other books, though.

Goodness gracious, I loved this. Could stakes possibly be any higher than avoiding blackmail and an evil duke/father and possible illegitimacy that drives you to partner with a breathtakingly sexy highwayman who is also adorably named Kit and does a whole lot of stomping and scowling and grumbling and generally doing the romance hero things I love?? Oh AND he runs a coffee shop AND he bareknuckle boxes AND he’s got a huge vendetta against the protagonist’s evil father?? Yep, yep, please inject this straight into my veins. I was laughing from Page 1 and was absolutely in agony waiting for their romance to finally blossom. Stakes were high but they overcame everything for love and what more could you possibly want.
